Glade Valley Church of the Brethren Welcomes A New Pastor

Daniel House has accepted the calling to full time ministry as pastor at Glade Valley Church of the Brethren. Glade Valley COB was previously pastored by Paula Bowser until June 2005. In the interim, pastoral leadership has been provided by Ken Gibble who is (once again) retiring at the end of May.

Daniel is originally from the Nokesville, Virginia area, graduated from Brentsville District High School in 1997 and from Bridgewater College in 2001. Daniel was very active with the Mid-Atlantic Youth during high school and while a student at Bridgewater College, Pastor House was a member of the Deputation Team. Both he and his wife were a part of the team that came to Glade Valley four years ago to meet with our young people.

Daniel had experience working with youth and adults as he continued to pursue his theological education and calling. He served as a Director of Youth Ministries at the Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren in Westminster, Maryland during the summer of 1999, and at Waynesboro, Virginia Church of the Brethren in 2000-2001. During his most recent ministry with the Church of the Brethren in Piqua, Ohio, Daniel continued to work with the community youth through meetings, events and projects while providing pastoral leadership for the church.

When asked to describe his vision for ministry, Pastor House stated, "Ministry is helping others to discover/rediscover new depths in their relationship with Christ in devotion and living. This is a mutual activity in which we learn and grow even as we encourage others in Christian discipleship. Ministry is also sharing the grace that God provides for us."

Daniel and his wife, Rebecca are joining our community as well and have moved into the Gladetown area. Both Daniel and Rebecca are currently attending Bethany Theological Seminary and will graduate with Masters of Divinity degrees in 2007.
